TowMarshall provides dispatch and impound management software used by towing and recovery companies, including a mobile app used by that company's own drivers and staff. This policy describes what information is collected through TowMarshall (web and mobile) and how it's used.
Who This Covers
Three different kinds of people use TowMarshall, and what is collected is not the same for each:
- Drivers and office staff at a towing company, using the app to do their job. The most information is collected here, including location while they are working.
- Property managers, who see tows at properties they manage. No location is collected from them at all.
- Residents of a managed property, registering a vehicle or asking for help. Location is only ever read when they ask for it, and never in the background.
Customers who simply call a towing company for a tow do not use the app at all. What a company collects about them is described under Information We Collect below.
Information We Collect
When you contact a towing company for roadside assistance, a tow, or an impound release, that company collects information you provide directly — such as your name, phone number, email address, and vehicle information — in order to dispatch a driver and provide service.
Drivers and staff who use the TowMarshall app to do their jobs have their own account, identified by a name, email address (used as a login identifier, which may not be a monitored mailbox for every account), and phone number.
Location
The TowMarshall mobile app collects a driver's precise location, including while the app is running in the background, for as long as that driver is logged in. This is used to show dispatch where trucks are in real time, calculate estimated arrival times, and record mileage for a job. Location data is tied to the driver's account and is only visible within that driver's own towing company.
The detailed location trail is kept for 90 daysand then deleted automatically. A truck's current position is held only until it moves.
This applies to the driver and staff app only. Property managers and residents are covered below.
If You Are a Property Manager
The property manager portal collects no location information whatsoever. The app never asks for location permission, in the foreground or the background.
What is collected is what you enter: your name, email address and phone number, the properties you manage, and the vehicles and residents you record against them. You see tows at your own properties and nothing else.
If You Are a Resident
Your location is never collected in the background, and the app never asks for permission to do so. There is exactly one place location is used: when you ask for roadside help or a tow, you can tap to use your current location instead of typing an address. Tapping it reads your position once, at that moment, so a driver can be sent to the right place. You can always type the address instead.
Otherwise, what is collected is what you enter: your name and contact details, your vehicles and their plates, your unit or address at the property, and any permits or guest passes you register. This is visible to your property manager and to the towing company that serves your property.
Audio Recording During a Panic Alarm
The driver and staff app includes a panic alarm. Where a towing company has turned the feature on, raising that alarm starts an audio recording, which continues while the alarm is active even if the driver puts the phone away or leaves the app. The driver's screen says so while it is happening, and the phone shows an ongoing notification.
Recording is off unless a company switches it on, and never happens outside an active alarm. A recording may capture other people present, and recording laws differ from state to state; a company turning this on is responsible for using it lawfully. Recordings go only to that company's own dispatch.
Photos and Other Job Content
Drivers and staff can take or upload photos to document a vehicle's condition, an impound, or a parking sticker, and can add notes, disclaimer signatures, and other job-related content. This content is stored against the specific job and visible to that towing company's own staff.
Device Identifiers
To deliver push notifications (such as a new dispatch alert), the app stores a device-specific push token tied to the account that's logged in on that device.
Text Message (SMS) Communications
If you provide a mobile phone number, the towing company may send you text messages related to your service, including job status updates (e.g. driver dispatched, en route, arrived, vehicle towed), a link to view your driver's live location, disclaimer or consent forms related to the tow, and a post-service request to leave a review. Message frequency varies based on your service. Message and data rates may apply.
Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any service. You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help.
How Information Is Used
All of the information described above — contact information, location, photos, and other job content — is used solely to operate and provide the towing or roadside service: dispatching and tracking a driver, documenting a job, invoicing, disclaimers, and customer support. None of it is used for advertising, analytics, or to personalize content, and it is never linked with data from other companies' apps or websites.
Information Sharing
Information is not sold, and is not shared with third parties or affiliates for advertising, marketing, or tracking purposes. Information may be shared with service providers (such as SMS, email, mapping, and payment providers) solely to the extent necessary to provide the features described above, and is only visible within the towing company you contacted or that employs you.
